Vintage Design
Set of 2 Black Leather “121” Chairs by Tobia Scarpa for Cassina, Italy, 1967 The chair, which has now become an icon of Italian style, features Scarpa’s typical double trestle structure with the characteristic rounded joint. The linear design is similar to a cubic volume; the supports, on the other hand, are thin and anatomically shaped surfaces. The seat and back are molded from plywood and bolted to the crossbars along the center. The back has a cut in the lower part, necessary for the presence of a reinforcement that reacts to torsional stress, which is stronger at this point. Overall these are refined, elegant chairs that adapt to any domestic environment.
