Victorian Kilim Rug Armchair, 1880s

Very rare and highly collectable original Victorian mahogany framed country house club armchair with bordered Turkey Kilim Rug upholstery and porcelain castors in the manner of Howard & Son’s This armchair has a very rare upholstery which is called Turkey work, it’s a kind of Kilim rug which has been used for century’s to upholstery English country house furniture, this one is a very heavy weave, it is in original barn find condition which is exactly where I bought it from, a barn type warehouse The chair itself is circa 1860, solid mahogany with a coil sprung base, it has porcelain castors, the legs are carved in the Gillows Lancaster fashion, this really is a work of art Condition wise the timber has been cleaned waxed and polished, the upholstery is old and worn as you would expect but in good condition for the age, there is some wear to the arms, a small hole at the back of the seat, it’s also a barn find so dirty Dimensions Height:- 92cm Width:- 75cm Depth:- 93 cm Seat height:- 35.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the pertaining to the condition.
