Vintage Design
A superb French oak monastery table with a generous three-plank top. The top is supported on a large trestle base, and united with a single stretcher secured at each end with oak pegs. The sturdy table is expertly crafted, strengthened with mortise and tenon joinery to the base. The table is exceptionally heavy and can easily seat ten persons making it the perfect farmhouse kitchen or dining table. Found in the Normandy region of France, period versions of this classic design are scarce. The rich honey-coloured grain and patination make this exceptional table the centrepiece of any room. France, circa 1880.
